Is broiler chicken actually bad — or is it how it’s raised and fed?

Broiler chicken often gets blamed as “unhealthy” or “unnatural”.
But the bird itself isn’t the problem.
Broilers are simply selectively bred to grow faster — something humans have done with plants and animals for generations. What changed wasn’t the bird, but how the system scaled.
Modern industrial systems focus on:
Speed over development
Uniform feed over natural variation
Long storage and cold chains
These factors can affect texture, flavour, and how the food feels after eating.
When broilers are:
Fed a varied, natural diet
Grown a little slower
Processed fresh instead of stored
They behave like… chicken again.
Soft, yes — but also aromatic, satisfying, and easier to digest for many people.
So the real question isn’t “Is broiler chicken bad?”
It’s “What did the bird eat, and how fresh is it?”
