Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for growing kids. This Kid-Friendly Poha with Microgreens is a fantastic way to ensure they get a nutritious and delicious start. By blending the familiar flavors of poha with the freshness of microgreens, this recipe not only enhances the nutritional value but also introduces kids to new tastes and textures. Simple to make and fun to eat, this breakfast dish will quickly become a morning favorite in your household.


  • 1 and 1/2 cups poha (flattened rice)

  • 1/2 cup radish microgreens

  • 1/2 cup sunflower microgreens

  • 1/2 cup Chinese cabbage microgreens

  • 1/4 cup peanuts (optional)

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 lemon

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped


  1. Prepare the Poha:

    • Rinse the poha in a colander under running water. Let it soak in water for about 5 minutes, then drain well and set aside.

  2. Sauté the Aromatics:

    • Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped green chilies and fresh coriander, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. Add Microgreens:

    • Add the radish, sunflower, and Chinese cabbage microgreens to the pan. Sauté for another 2 minutes until the microgreens are slightly wilted.

  4. Cook the Poha:

    • Add the soaked and drained poha to the pan. Sprinkle turmeric powder and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes, ensuring the poha is heated through and well combined with the microgreens.

  5. Cool and Add Lemon:

    • Remove the pan from the heat and let the poha cool for about 10 minutes. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the poha and mix well.

  6. Serve:

    • Serve the Poha with Microgreens warm, garnished with additional fresh coriander if desired. Enjoy this healthy and vibrant breakfast!
